How do adult stem cells work?

Adult Stem Cells (SC) are self renewing cells that have the ability to differentiate into more specialized types of tissues or organs. These cells can be found throughout our bodies in the various tissues, however, they are most abundant in adipose tissue, better known as “fat”. How does the process work?

At Hero Medical Center our therapies are done on an outpatient basis. A mini liposuction procedure is performed removing approximately 150-300 cc of fat from you to be processed. This fat is processed for stem cells using our unique and precise methods, and combined with your platelet rich plasma (PRP) which is taken from a small amount of your blood.

The combination of SC and PRP combined together create a potent cocktail that can rebuild and repair almost any joint in your body. Your stem cells combined with your PRP are then injected into your body via the problem area whether it be a joint, or the surrounding tissue.

Our therapy procedure is minimally invasive and safe as it is using your own stem cells to help heal your body. The process for stem cells takes approximately 3-4 hours. There is very little down time after this procedure. Results can be experienced as soon as the next day; however these stem cells need time to repair and regenerate your problem areas. A definite result should be seen within 5 weeks of treatment, and with long lasting effects.

If I am determined to be a strong candidate for stem cell therapy, what is the next step?

Once you opt to receive stem cell therapy, we use your very own stem cells. Since stem cells come directly from you, there is little to no risks involved in the procedure. In most cases, patients respond favorably to stem cell therapy on the initial treatment.

On average, most patients start to see signs of improvement within six to eight weeks after the procedure. Patients will typically experience less pain within days due to the reduction of inflammation. In some rare cases, a patient might need additional booster treatments of PRP to get improved results.
